All About Jason Joo
(they/them)

Like a moth, I am drawn to pretty lights. I love to design and experiment with light, and tinker on electrical projects like practicals and soldering. I aim to emphasize Drama and Color in my designs. I draw inspiration from many sources including the lighting of our everyday lives, but my two greatest are concerts and horror movies. Some of the most inspiring shows I’ve seen recently have been Rina Sawayama, A Strange Loop, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Twice.

Born and raised in Davis, California, I have recently graduated from UC Berkeley as a Geography major and Theater minor. I have experience working with Berkeley Repertory Theater, California Shakespeare Theater, the UC Berkeley Theater, Dance, & Performance Studies Department, and BareStage Productions, a student-led performing organization. My heart lies in creating art, and I am excited to work on more shows!

With scenic carpentry and theatrical electrics training, working with my hands is second nature, with I have recently been channeling in building Gundam models. I love collecting music, particularly Korean, Japanese, and funk records. I am a DJ at KALX, UC Berkeley’s student radio station.
